GSD Search is engaged to identify a Territory Manager for a Commercial Construction client based in Middle Tennessee. The idea fit for the Territory Manager (required to be based in Colorado and Utah) is to build long-term, trusting relationships with our customers. The Territory Manager will manage a portfolio of assigned clients, generate new business from existing accounts, and actively seek out new sales opportunities within their designated territory.
Responsibilities include cultivating strong customer relationships, engaging with key business leaders and stakeholders, and identifying new growth opportunities. You will work with cross-functional internal teams (such as Customer Service, Planning, and Production) to enhance the overall customer experience. This role requires travel within the assigned territories. Ideal candidates will be adept at meeting ambitious individual and team sales targets.
This is a hunter role and you must be comfortable being on the road selling through distribution & supply chain partners in the commercial / building construction & materials space. This role has an aggressive commission plan, but it requires a person that is comfortable with a compensation plan that is 70-80% commissions. Do not apply if you do not want a hunter position!
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary point of contact for all account management activities within your territory.
- Establish and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships across all organizational levels.
- Assess the competitive landscape, including market pricing and service levels, to create effective go-to-market strategies.
- Serve as the single point of contact for customer interactions, product delivery, customer maintenance, and understanding current market conditions.
- Communicate the progress of monthly and quarterly initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop new business with existing clients and identify areas for improvement to meet sales targets.
- Forecast and track key account metrics (e.g., quarterly sales results and annual forecasts).
- Prepare reports on account status.
- Collaborate with the sales team to identify and expand opportunities within the territory.
- Provide timely quotes for new orders within a 24–48 hour timeframe.
- Assist with challenging client requests or issue escalations as needed.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a territory or regional manager within the construction products industry.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate, present, and influence key stakeholders at all organizational levels, including at the Distribution & Suppl Chain levels
- Solid experience with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, Zoho CRM, or HubSpot) and MS Office (particularly MS Excel).
- Experience delivering client-focused solutions to customer needs.
- Proven ability to manage multiple account projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent listening, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- BA/BS degree in Business Administration, Sales, or a relevant field.
